I am a lifelong Fisherman, Woodworker and Artist that lives in Annapolis Maryland. My Dad introduced me to working with wood and metal fabrication in our family’s basement workshop. My Mom, an Artist, didn’t like all the mess, but was great about sweeping up sawdust when it got too piled up. Combining all three of my interests together enabled me over the past nine years to design and hand craft, an award-winning line of wooden topwater lures. My poppers and spook style swimmers are individually hand turned on a lathe from a block of Northern White Cedar. Following shaping, I then weight, balance, sand, paint, finish and coat each lure with a very durable epoxy. I use only top quality, stainless steel hardware and saltwater grade VMC hooks for final assembly of each lure. Because I live less than one mile from the Chesapeake Bay, means that I can have my Parker 23 center console in the water and ready to try out a new lure design or color combo within minutes. You can be assured that my lures are proven performers for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Redfish, Albies, and other species. And for those that are interested in fish art - “they look too pretty to fish”. FishTalk Magazine, December 2018 “Topwater Plugs – Neal Cohen lures, hand-made in Maryland, these cedar plugs seem to out-catch any and every mass-produced model”. Chesapeake Bay Magazine, November/December 2019 “They are beautiful, collectable, and they catch fish”.
